Eligibility criteria is slightly different this year for the Covid 19 vaccination, patients aged 75+ and those under 75 who are severely immunosuppressed can have both Covid and the Influenza vaccine together.
All patients aged 65 – 75 are eligible for the Flu vaccine only (Unless severely immunosuppressed).
Patients in at risk groups under the age of 65 are eligible for the Influenza vaccine only.
Due to uncertainty regarding the arrival of Covid 19 vaccine stock into Northern Ireland, we will postpone vaccinating patient’s eligible for both Flu and Covid 19.
Eligible patients aged between 65 and 75 and those patients under the age of 65 in at risk groups will receive a self–booking text invitation for flu only to attend on the 10.10.26.
Please attend at the time of your booking. Please note this will be a busy clinic, so please attend on foot, bicycle or public transport as the car park will be closed (except for blue badge holders).
All other eligible patients will receive a letter to attend for their Influenza and Covid Vaccination. We aim to carry these out at the earliest possible opportunity in October / November 2026
The eligible groups for vaccine administered at the practice are Pre School Children aged 2 – 4 on the 01.09.2026, those aged 6 months to aged 65 in clinical at risk groups(to Inc. pregnant women), all patients aged over 65 on the 31st March 2027, carers, homeless and workers employed at statutorily registered poultry / swine / cattle units.
Patients who are resident in a nursing / care home will be attended by the community pharmacy team. Patients who are housebound and eligible will be attended by District Nursing.
Last year, many patients delayed attending perhaps due to the mild weather or vaccine fatigue, but prevalence of Influenza and Covid increased in hospital and primary care settings over the winter months, but by this time it’s too late. We would encourage patients to protect themselves, their families and our NHS before those winter months.
